Individual Counseling

Addressing issues from an evidence-based approach, we encourage each individual to develop the ability to stand on his or her own feet while engaging with others in genuine and healthy ways. Emphasizing the unique beauty of each person, we help you process and make sense of your emotions, overcome both personal and interpersonal stressors, conquer depression and anxiety and attain measurable personal growth.

Anxiety

Anxiety is one of the most debilitating emotional difficulties to overcome. It often impairs every area of your life, including your school, family, work, and relationships. Anxiety can manifest itself in various ways, including excessive or debilitating worry, social and generalized anxiety, panic attacks, and physical symptoms such as excessive sweating, muscle soreness, headaches, heart rate changes, and/or gastrointestinal symptoms. Our therapists use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help you learn new ways to manage your anxiety.

Depression

Depression comes in many forms. But when it comes, it tends to take over your entire life, affecting your work, your family life and even your health. Therapy can help you uncover the root of your difficult feelings and orient yourself toward resolving the past in the present so that you may overcome depression and begin living your life to the fullest once again.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a medical diagnosis that affects children, adolescents, and adults. It is characterized by problems with attention, impulsivity, and/or hyperactivity. Students with ADHD may have significantly lower grades, are more likely to have academic and behavioral problems, experience more social difficulties, and struggle at home and/or work. ADHD is an executive functioning disorder, which means it impacts every area of your life. While, the exact cause of ADHD is unknown, 76% of ADHD is thought to run in families. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to a successful school and career paths and emotionally healthy life. Undiagnosed ADHD often leads to anxiety and depression, resulting from repeated failure despite one’s best efforts. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy techniques geared towards working with ADHD, we will help you achieve the results you desire by overcoming your limitations, while capitalizing on your strengths.

Self-Esteem

Self-esteem is how we feel about ourselves, view ourselves and how we relate to ourselves. However, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence becomes a barrier to experiencing healthy and fulfilling relationships. When we feel down on ourselves this can manifest as anxiety, depression and relational difficulties. Therapy can help you increase your self-esteem and become a confident, relationally oriented person.

Trauma and Grief

Sometimes difficult events happen in people’s lives. These events can be single, traumatic events, a series of incidents, or continuous subtle experiences throughout one’s life that bring on difficulties in your current life. Have you recently experienced a loss of a loved one or a change in your life, such as a job loss or a physical disability, or suffering from childhood abuse, neglect or trauma? Our therapists will collaboratively work with you to create a safe and healing environment; assist you with processing your feelings, provide emotional support, and help you manage symptoms of depression and anxiety that results from these experiences.

Behavioral Issues

Children today are faced with many challenges. Is your child or adolescent struggling to manage his or her anger or experiencing difficulties cooperating with rules and authority figures? Our counselors use effective evidence-based treatment for behavior or conduct problems. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) can improve a child’s behavior, self-control, self-esteem and social skills. They will learn coping skills to help them manage difficult situations. Our therapists help children and their parents understand and deal with the difficulties children and adolescents experience at home and in school.

Career Growth

Would you like to move up in your career, but something is holding you back? Social anxiety, lack of assertiveness, fear, or difficulty finding your professional niche can prevent you from reaching your career goals. Individual psychotherapy, in combination with career and personality inventories can help you achieve your desired goals and aspirations.

Relational Difficulties

Navigating relationships can often be one of the more challenging aspects of life. Learning to communicate in an authentic and honest way; addressing fears that get in the way of connecting with others in a meaningful way; forming new ways of relating to others; and learning to set and maintain healthy boundaries can lead to conflict reduction, improved communication and more fulfilling relationships.

When people feel disconnected from themselves, it can often manifest itself in poor self-esteem, self-criticism and judgment, depression, and feelings of isolation. Therapy can help you value and become more aligned with your inner self, reducing internal conflict and distress, and fostering greater self-acceptance, self-esteem, and fulfillment.
