Rebecca Aparicio Zepeda
B.S., M. Ed., Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Hello, I’m Rebecca Aparicio Zepeda. I am currently a post graduate mental health counseling intern with Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I have worked in the educational setting as a teacher and as a certified professional school counselor for the past 11 years. I am looking forward to transitioning into the clinical mental health field and further developing my counseling skills as a future licensed professional counselor.
I’m passionate about helping others make meaningful change within themselves, and that is best accomplished when in a supportive, safe, and accepting environment. I offer clients a positive, warm, and supportive space to help carry out their therapy goals. I view therapy as a tool that aids clients on the journey of healing, self-acceptance, and problem-solving.
We are all unique and products of our backgrounds, life experiences, culture, and genetics. I find that combining this information and learning to understand your emotional, mental, and physical well-being, as well as your cultural, spiritual, and social experiences and needs, allows us to achieve your therapy goals and tailor the treatment best for you.
My role as a counseling intern is to collaborate, encourage, and create a therapeutic environment best for you. The therapeutic relationship is one of mutual respect and non-judgmental acceptance. I support my clients in making real, meaningful changes that lead to achieving personal growth by tailoring my method to the client’s unique needs. Through our work together, clients grow in their ability to navigate life more easily and confidently. They are empowered with new self-awareness, fresh takes on life, and effective coping strategies.
